We haven’t done any Take Me Back Tuesdays for June at all, so we thought since it is the last day of the month, and it happens to fall on a Tuesday, we thought we would give this spot to the late Michael Jackson, with the song Man In The Mirror.
This is actually a remix (credits to mrtan22) but we just love how the rap fits into the song, plus they are Michael Jackson and 2pac Shakur: both are musical legends!
There’s gonna be some stuff your going to see that’s going to make it hard to smile in the future, but through whatever you see through all the rain and the pain you gotta keep your sense of humour.
I am thankful that I was exposed to a variety of music since I was young. From classic, to jazz, to country, to pop, to R&B, and to plain ol’ local Malay/Chinese/KadazanDusun songs here in Malaysia!
But this week, we take a trip down to memory lane, back to the year 1964, and last week’s Take Me Back Tuesday was about a wedding, and so I thought that I would feature another song for Take Me Back Tuesday that’s about wedding as well! And the song chosen this week is Chapel Of Love, by The Dixie Cups.
I remember when I first heard this song, I wanted to learn the lyrics and even told my dad that I wanted this song played on my wedding day. I’m not married (yet), and I’m still holding on to that promise!
Flashback to the past, and this time to the 60’s, and the chosen song for this week is The Wedding (Ave Maria), sung by the beautiful Julie Rogers.
This is a great timeless song and is still sung at weddings all around the world, thanks to the beautiful yet straightforward lyrics. We have forgotten all about this song, until we watched the Singaporean movie The Wedding Game on DVD recently, where this song was playing several times in the background. Lyrics are sung clearly and emotionally.
It is just a beautiful song; we cannot say enough! Have a listen at Julie Rogers singing this magical song.
For the first time ever, TV & Music Junkie will have a Take Me Back Tuesday, sort of like a blast from the past kind of thing. And for the first Take Me Back Tuesday, we will be looking back at Mott the Hoople with their song, All the Young Dudes. It was released as a single in July, 1972, and did you know that David Bowie actually wrote this song for them in an effort for the band to stay together? Bowie even sang in the background in this song!
Okay, why this song? Simple. Guitar Hero Aerosmith! That’s our favourite song in that version of Guitar Hero, not only because it is quite easy to play, but the guitar solo is excellent in this song! Also, we are just fans of slow rock, as opposed to heavy metal and fast beat kind of rock songs.
Also, have you gotten your tickets yet for Mott the Hoople 40th Anniversary Reunion this October in Hammersmith Apollo in London? Heard they were all sold out shows, so just pray that they will hold more reunion concerts, eh?
Here is the video clip of Mr. Mott the Hoople himself, Mr. Ian Hunter singing All the Young Dudes, with David Bowie and Mick Ronson and others at the Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert on April 1992. The guitar solo is still excellent, huh?
