So who cried while watching the Michael Jackson memorial service at the Staples Center? Sigh..

Isn’t the casket beautiful though? Wow.. fit for a king, that’s for sure.

We watched it live via CNN at 1.30am (Malaysia time) this morning, and we were fine on the overall part of the ceremony, except for 3 people: Brooke Shields, Marlon Jackson, and Paris Katherine. It was them who made the ceremony extra personal and more memorable because they told us their personal experiences with MJ.

  • Brooke Shields

  • Marlon Jackson

  • Paris Katherine

We quite liked Congresswoman Sheila Jackson-Lee’s speech as well, especially when she told the crowd she introduced Resolution 600 into the House of Representatives officially recognizing Jackson as a musical icon, legend and humanitarian:

Some of the performances during the memorial:

  • Mariah Carey & Trey Lorenz - I’ll Be There

  • Jennifer Hudson - Will You Be There

  • Usher - Gone Too Soon

  • Stevie Wonder - Never Thought You’d Leave In Summer

  • Lionel Richie - Jesus Is Love

  • The Andrea Crouch Sungers, Andrea & Sandra Crouch Youth Choir - We Are The World/Heal The World

We also loved the ending, with the empty stage, a spotlight and a standing mic, and Man In The Mirror was playing in the background. You can almost imagine him there..

RIP Michael Jackson, King of Pop.

I definitely wept towards the end of the memorial service.. It was so difficult for me to hold the tears back! The empty stage with standing mic made me feel so empty. All those childhood memories of singing and dancing to MJ makes me so sad that he’s gone. RIP MJ! We love you!! :)
